Costa Rica was amazing. Not only was it amazing for the spectacular scenery, diverse wildlife, and wonderful culture, but it was amazing because my family functioned very well together. The first night--after lots of flying and not a lot of eating--there was some tension. Pam and I got back to our room wondering how the rest of the trip would be. But it was great; everyone got along wonderfully, everyone saw what they wanted to see (minus Kendall's nightlife), and everyone was able to relax a bit and enjoy the show that Costa Rica offers.
For me, the best part of the trip was watching the Arenal volcano erupt from the porch of our bungalow at Montana del Fuego Resort right after relaxing in the hot springs formed by the same volcano. I could live there, but I don't think investing in land on the slopes of a volcano is a very sound financial decision. Maybe cousin Ed could give us some advice?
It was a great trip, and we have more pictures if you want to see them.
