Excursion

Last Thursday, my parents brought our niece, Megan up to our house for a special excursion. Mostly, my mom wanted to give my sister and brother in-law a break and thought the best thing would be to get their 2 year old daughter out of the house so they could be alone with baby Liam (now one month old).

Although everyone was a little worried how Megan would do away from her parents, she did great. Megan had fun playing with Brooke and Brooke loved the extra attention. On Friday night, the girls spent almost an hour playing in the bathtub.

On Friday, we drove up to Port Townsend, WA to see Granddad Ray and family:

Cousins

Over St. Patrick's day weekend, we went to see my sister and her family in Salem, OR. This was our first time to see baby Liam since he came home from the hospital. The cousins had a great time getting to know each other...kind of.

The weather was great all weekend long. The adults enjoyed badminton and green beer on St. Patrick's day while the kids "watched."

Naked Time

Brooke's favorite time of the day is "Naked Time." Now, you may be like the rest of my family and wonder why in the world we would give our daughter time to just roll around with no clothes on. But those of you who have seen it can attest that Brooke goes from screaming, tantrum throwing baby to smiling, giggling cutie pie in a matter of minutes after her clothes and diaper have been stripped off. Because of that, we have made naked time a part of Brooke's routine - usually at the end of the day right before bedtime.

PS - It took me several minutes before Brooke moved into a G rated pose for this picture.

Brooke TV

We are afraid that our daughter is going to turn out just like Mike TV from Willy Wonka. Brooke is fascinated by the tv. At first, we told ourselves it was ok because it was helping her eyes develop. Now, I'm not so sure.
Here is Brooke "watching" tv.

What's Under Your Chinny-Chin-Chin?

We have all heard of toe fuzz --- that little bit of fuzz from your socks that gets stuck between your toes. The same thing goes with your belly button. Well, yesterday Brooke introduced us to a totally new one....chin fuzz. Yes, I actually found bits of fuzz under the last of her many chins. She has so many wrinkles that it is actually rare to see under that last chin. I got it cleaned up as I cursed myself for being such a bad mom.

Singing in the Rain

As many of you know, I take Brooke out walking pretty frequently. A few days ago, I commented to Bryan how I am actually starting to like it in the Pacific Northwest and that the weather isn't really that bad. Note: I said this on one of the two sunny days we had in the last month. But I do feel like I have been able to take Brooke out on walks on most days. Today I was reminded of the more typical NW weather.

Here's Brooke covered with rain after a short walk around the neighborhood.

Brooke is a true Northwesterner and took it all in stride. She was smiling and laughing at the end of our walk.

9 months on, 4 months off

I am happy to report that for the last two weeks, I have been down at my pre-pregnancy weight. Sadly, my hips have remained larger and I am still breastfeeding so I still can't fit into half the clothes in my closet! But at least officially I have made my goal. Of course, I celebrated by going out to Mexican, buying a gallon of ice cream, and baking a loaf of banana bread. But I can no longer blame the weight on Brooke.

Another Day of Firsts

On Tuesday, Brooke had another big day:
In the morning, she finally rolled over from her back onto her tummy. Now that it has been a few days, she has mastered this trick. The only down side is that she still doesn't know how to roll from her tummy to her back. She keeps rolling over, realizes that she doesn't want to be on her tummy and then cries hysterically.

On Tuesday afternoon Brooke rode facing forward in her stroller (i.e. without the infant seat) for the first time. She liked this way just fine and slept for most of the walk.
