Hard Knock Life

Ordinarily, I would say that babies have the good life - sleep as much as you want, have someone to feed and change you, etc. But today as I changed Brooke for the 10th time today because of her terrible diaper rash, I noticed that she had one green nostril (avocado) and one orange nostril (carrots) and realized that life may not be so easy for babies. Not if you are stuck with me as the Mommy anyway. Note to self: Food goes in the mouth, not up the nose!

Thank Heaven for Little Girls

Today I was in the library looking at the child rearing books. I discovered seven books on raising boys. They had titles like Boys Will Be Boys, The Trouble with Boys, and Dealing with Boys. I found there were only two books on raising girls and both had to do with raising independent daughters - nothing in the title about bad behavior. As we left the library, I thought to myself how thankful I am to have a little girl!

Solids

Yesterday, we started Brooke on solid foods. So far, it has gone well. Mostly, I think Brooke just likes having the spoon in her mouth so she can chew on it. She does get some eating done, though. Tonight we tried mashed avocado in addition to the rice cereal. She didn't seem to be phased by it either way. Like I said, it's the spoon in her mouth that really gets her excited!

Atlanta

Bryan had block leave during the first two weeks of April. We spent a week of that time visiting the Bogardus clan in Atlanta.
Our little Harley girl enjoyed the time we spent fixing motorcycles...

and drinking beer....

Just kidding! She does love chewing on the bottles, though. Anything she can get her hands on goes into her mouth.

We had a great time in Atlanta - even if the weather was only nice for two of the days.

Brooke got to know her Grandpa Jeb

and Ginny.

Grandma Sue and Auntie Teri did lots of spoiling and even allowed for some "naked time."

We spent one night visiting Bryan's college friend Matt, his wife, Libby and their two kids at their house in North Atlanta.

All that and Brooke still managed to squeeze in some much needed thumb-sucking!

Happy Easter

We celebrated Brooke's first Easter in Atlanta with the Bogardus side of the family. Easter brunch was delicious - Ginny's cooking always is. Brooke received lots of nice toys including some stuffed bunnies that she loves. But the most memorable part of the day was the blowout of all blowouts that Brooke treated us to in the afternoon. This one required four people to help with the clean up. Luckily, we had extra dresses for her.

Daddy Time

Bryan and I are dreadfully counting down the weeks (8) until he leaves for Iraq. Fortunately, Bryan has the next two weeks off work to spend so much needed quality time with the family. Brooke is enjoying every minute of it!
