Port Townsend

On Saturday, Brooke and I went up to Port Townsend for the day to visit her great-grandparents. Despite only napping for 45 minutes on the way up there, Brooke was great while we were there. She loved crawling around the house investigating. And, she got to see her favorite ceiling fan again.

Brooke especially enjoyed playing with all the interesting "stuff" that great-Grandma Marjorie keeps around.

Garbage Collector

Wouldn't you know that this would be what Brooke pulled out of the garbage can. Her dad would be so proud!

Teeth

Brooke now has a toothy grin. Her bottom two teeth broke through a few days apart right at the beginning of July. It took about a month for them to really be visible, though.

Jello

Brooke loves to play with her food. Last night I let her have some fun with Jello. I don't know what I was thinking by not putting a bib on!

Budding Tastes

I have complained to many of you about Bryan's sensitive palate. Cooking can be difficult because Bryan can always pick out spices and flavors he doesn't like even if it's just a tiny amount. Brooke has not inherited this quality. Either that or she really just likes everything. She will eat any kind of food I give her. And yesterday, I caught her eating cat barf off the floor (for the second time). I cleaned it up and then she went back and ate the crumbs that I missed! Then last night, she ate the bar of soap in the bath tub. Thankfully, she didn't go back for seconds on this one. But she never made a bad face either. She just liked her lips and moved on to chewing a rubber ducky.

Thriving Thirty (?)

Brooke's mom turned thirty today. We celebrated together by going to a neighbor's for lunch and cake. Brooke got into the cupcakes at the kids' table. She loved it! That girl has a sweet tooth already.

Bookworm

Brooke is a very active child. Actually, most people tell me that "active" is an understatement. That being said, reading to Brooke has been a real challenge. Mostly she just wants to eat the book. So, imagine my surprise when I caught her reading her touch and feel animal book. I would say she is turning over a new leaf, but playing with the book only held her attention for about 5 minutes. It's a step in the right direction anyway.

Lilies

Just wanted to show off my garden a little. These lilies were actually left here by the previous occupants. They are gorgeous this year and so fragrant.

Brookie 'da Wrench

At the young age of 7 months, Brooke was coined with her Mob name: Brookie 'da Wrench. On a visit down to Salem, Pam noticed that Brooke was very taken by one of Megan's plastic wrenches so she sent it home with us. Little did we know that it would become Brooke's favorite toy. She loves this wrench and it is one of the only things that will hold her attention for more than a few minutes. One day, she dropped it over the side of her stroller. We had to back track about 1/2 mile to find it. She hung her head over the side of the stroller the whole way and let out a little squeal of delight when we found it.
