Other Cute Kids

I'm sure this will make the Smith blog, but for those of you that don't read it, I thought I would share this cute story:
We are staying at my sister's this week for Thanksgiving. Yesterday morning I asked my niece, Megan if she would color a picture for uncle Bryan. Then I told her that later we would write him a letter. Megan replied that she would like to write him the letter L.
(PS - For those of you that don't know Megan, she will be three in January.)

The Days of Fall

Sorry it's been so long since I have posted anything. What I have learned in the last month is that it's really difficult to get a good picture of a one year old who is always on the go and it's even harder to find time to sit in front of the computer (especially now that I use our new treadmill during Brooke's naps). Here's what Brooke has been up to:

Climbing, climbing, climbing....Brooke has mastered going up and down the stairs and does this several times each day. Good thing we have three sets of stairs in our house! I would feel pretty comfortable with her going up and down unsupervised except that none of our stairs are carpeted and two of the staircases end in a sharp turn with a brick wall at the end.

Not only is Brooke climbing, but she is climbing and standing. I have found her standing on her toy trunk in the playroom. But scariest of all is when she climbs on her rocking chair and stands in the seat of it. Her balance is pretty good, though. The only way she has hurt herself with that rocking chair so far is by rocking it on her foot. But it is an accident waiting to happen (which is why I am watching her like a hawk and don't have time for blogging!)

Brooke has also discovered the phone. Don't be surprised if I make you talk to Brooke if you call anytime soon. She is usually pretty good at talking back (please tell me if you understand her).

We have had a beautiful Fall and have been spending lots of time outdoors at the playground. I am not looking forward to the arrival of the rain. But we have our basement pretty well set up for the rainy days - swing hanging from the rafters, sandbox in the main entry, and a clean hallway where we can use our riding toys. Hope you've been having a nice Fall and Happy Thanksgiving!

Brooke's Halloween

On Halloween night, Brooke and I stayed home to hand out candy. Brooke had a lot of fun playing with the candy. It was a great game for her to try to empty all the candy out of the basket and then re-fill it. I did find candy all over the house the next day, but the distraction was worth it.
