Christmas 2007

Brooke and I headed down to Southern California for Christmas this year. It was great to get away from Fort Lewis and spend the holiday with family. Even better was seeing sunshine for almost a week straight!

Brooke especially enjoyed her time as a California Girl.

We made a trip from Lake Arrowhead down to Pasadena and Fullerton where Brooke and great-Grandpa got acquainted.

She also enjoyed playing with her second cousins. Brooke had so much fun playing blocks and cars with Will that she would sneak down to the basement on her own while no one was looking.

And, of course, what holiday would be complete without a group bath? (for the kids, that is...)

Meow

While spending the holidays in California, Brooke got to meet and play with two new feline companions. This prompted Brooke to add a new word to her vocabulary, "Meow." She says this each time a cat walks by her or if we hear a cat meow.

Cally (owned by Great Grandpa Siechert) was a great sport as Brooke chased her around the house and tried to make friends.

Jacques (owned by Great Aunt Carol and Great Uncle Bruce) was mellow as ever and let Brooke hug him and cuddle.

Packed Up!

We're all packed and ready to go. Have a merry Christmas!

I had no help in setting up this picture. Brooke took all the clothes out of the suitcase, got in, and then pulled each item of clothing on top of her. She's a great packer, don't you think?

Word

As I discussed in my last entry, Brooke is learning many new words. This week, we have been working on "ear." I thought she had it down pretty well. But yesterday, I held out my arms and said, "Come here." Brooke looked at me and grabber her ear!

Little Bunny Foo Foo

Over the last month, I have been trying to teach Brooke some of the body parts. It doesn't seem like much is sinking in, but she does know "foot," "teeth," and "head." Sometimes when you ask her to point to these body parts, she'll just look at you like you're crazy. Other times, she'll do it immediately. But I am convinced that she knows these words: Today, I was singing "Little Bunny Foo Foo" to Brooke. When I got to the part about "bopping them on the head," Brooke put both hands on her head. She did this two or three times and I finally had to quit singing. It was so adorable.

Snow Day

On Saturday, we had our first snow of the year. It was only a light dusting, but it was Brooke's first time in the snow.

It turns out that she's a lot happier in the rain.....what a typical Pacific Northwesterner!

Shoes

One of Brooke's favorite games is to play with shoes. She especially likes to play in the drawer of hand me down shoes that are still too big for her. She always wants to put on those shoes and she'll walk around the house with one shoe on or some odd combination. Here's an example:
